In August 2022, Microsoft announced to the partner community that the price for Teams Rooms will change soon; and will add a version of the product thought for small businesses.
What is Teams Rooms?
It is a Microsoft offering for customers who own collaboration hardware, like microphones, desk phones that pack screens and cameras, sound bars, among others; from brands like Bose, Poly, Lenovo, and Logitech.
Microsoft charges customers to operate said rooms over and above the cost of Teams licenses. Currently, those licenses cost:
- Premium license — $50 USD per month
- Standard service — $15 USD per month
However, starting September 1st, 2022, the Premium license will be replaced by a $40 USD per month Pro tier. It is thought to deliver enhanced in-room meeting experiences, including intelligent audio/video, multiscreen support, and more.
On the other hand, the Standard service will be replaced by ‘’Microsoft Teams Rooms Basic’’, which will provide core meeting experiences at no cost, to customers that purchase certified Microsoft Teams Rooms devices. Customers can acquire up to 25 Basic licenses.
The Pro and Basic offerings will be announced to the public on September 6th, nevertheless, they will be functional and open for purchasing starting September 1st.
If you are a current user of Teams Rooms Standard or Premium
Current users of either of these licenses must adopt the new schemes at their next anniversary, or as soon as possible.
Another important note, since the SaaS device management service comes online, Microsoft will no longer serve as intermediaries for the incident management workflows, starting October 1st, 2022.
These changes are thought to fit even more the needs of each of the Enterprise and small business segments. If you have any questions about these changes or want to transition to the new SKUs, please contact one of our licensing experts, they will gladly lend a hand to your organization.
