In November 2022, Microsoft announced the general availability of support for the Microsoft Teams PWA (progressive web app) for Linux customers. They can now access the full richness of Teams features in a secure way via the Teams PWA.
This new app allows Linux customers to receive the latest Microsoft Teams features faster, and helps Microsoft bridge the gaps between the Teams desktop client on Linux and Windows. The PWA experience is available in both Edge and Chrome browsers running Linux.
Progressive Web App Capabilities
- Custom backgrounds
- Gallery view
- Reactions
- Raise-a-hand feature in meetings
- Large gallery and together mode
- Desktop-like app features, such as:
-
- System notifications for chat and channel
- A dock icon with perspective controls

The Microsoft Teams PWA for Linux can be used with Conditional Access configuration, which is applied through Endpoint Manager, to ensure users can securely access the Teams web app using Edge. With this, organizations can securely use an industry-leading, unified endpoint management solution for Teams from Linux endpoints with quality built in.
If you are a Teams Linux user, we encourage you to switch to PWA to get the latest Linux features, as well as a desktop-like experience.
