Being now a remote/hybrid world, it is crucial for organizations to be able to sign documents during meetings. Microsoft Teams has many integrations with e-signature providers in the Teams Store, and the most asked feature for these providers was to sign documents during a meeting.
The Teams Ecosystem Engineering created a proof of concept, so that any ISV (Independent Software Vendor) could implement this feature.
How?
With this application, any document owner will be able to select a document and add it to the meeting. There are two roles, signers and viewers, and this determines if the attendees will be able to sign or see the document. Organizations won’t have to worry about user authentication, since this capability uses Teams SSO for this.
Most common documents signed in Microsoft Teams meetings
- Purchase agreements
- Incoming invoices
- Nondisclosure agreements (NDAs)
Microsoft made this code customizable, so each ISV can choose the type of signature that needs to be used (manual, electronic, or certificate-based). Furthermore, this proof of concept can be customized for scenarios like accepting changes in documents or code reviews.
At the moment, this POC only works for users from the same organization/tenant on desktop. Mobile and web are coming soon, as well as guest and anonymous users.
Don’t let the limitations of the digital work world get to you. Start using this POC and thrive in the remote/hybrid world. For more information about this tool or to have access to Teams through a Microsoft 365 subscription, do not hesitate to contact one of our licensing experts today.
