Since the launch of Microsoft 365 in 2011, Microsoft has been innovating, adding applications and releasing over 1400 new capabilities. Teams, Forms, OneDrive, OneNote, Power Apps, and Power BI are some of the 25 applications that were added to MS 365 over the past 10 years.
Communication and collaboration capabilities
To boost communication and collaboration, Microsoft added capabilities such as: Together Mode, custom backgrounds, Planner, and Forms in Microsoft Teams. As well as real-time collaboration in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Desktop Apps.
Security & compliance capabilities
In terms of security and compliance, they added data loss prevention for email and documents, sensitivity labels, and message encryption; Content Search, eDiscovery, and core Litigation Hold.
AI & assistance capabilities
To make the best out of technology and assist everyone who wants to use it, Microsoft added automatic video transcription & face detection in Stream, Live captions & subtitles, Resume Assistant, among other capabilities.
In August 2021, Microsoft announced a set of price updates for some of the Microsoft 365 license plans for SMB and Enterprise. These are the first substantive updates to the price list for O365 since its launch in 2011, and for MS 365 since its launch in March 2017.
Extended audio conferencing capabilities
Although cloud connectivity keeps growing, people are still facing poor internet connection and on-the-go meetings. So, in addition to these changes, unilimited dial-in capabilities will be available for MS Teams meetings.
These capabilities are now included for Microsoft 365 E5 and Office 365 E5, and will be available for enterprise and bussiness plans over the next few months.
